Status: In Production
Waterdrum Films is currently in production on a feature documentary exploring the social model of end-of-life care in the United States through the lens of Clarehouse, a Tulsa-based nonprofit that has pioneered a compassionate, community-centered approach to hospice. Through intimate access to patients, families, and Clarehouse staff, the film examines how this model shifts the focus from institutional care to dignity, connection, and presence, allowing individuals to live fully in their final days. This is not a film about dying. It is a film about living with intention, surrounded by love, and finding meaning in the time that remains.
Directed by Christopher Hunt, the project combines thoughtful interviews with vérité footage, filming extensively on iPhone to minimize intrusion and on 16mm Bolex to add a timeless, nostalgic quality that honors the subject matter. The production extends beyond Clarehouse to include facilities across the country that have followed this model, demonstrating that compassionate, community-centered care is not only possible but replicable nationwide. With end-of-life care more in demand than ever before, the film seeks to reveal a path forward that places humanity at the center of how we care for one another in our most vulnerable moments.
