One Season, One Shot follows the Lions of Langston University—the nation's westernmost Historically Black College & University—as they seek redemption after a crushing last-second defeat in the NAIA National Championship. With a roster of entirely new players striving to live up to the legacy of the previous season, the documentary short weaves together the personal and the collective: athletes navigating deeply personal challenges, academic pressure, and institutional adversity while chasing a shared dream.
Told with raw, vérité intimacy, the short captures not just the game but the spirit of the program, the passion of its head coach, and the resilience of a team determined to rewrite its story. Produced in partnership with 1577 Productions and the National Basketball Players Association, One Season, One Shot is ultimately about belief—in yourself, in each other, and in something bigger than basketball.
